Stair Flooring and Nosing Installation
Stair flooring updates the visible surfaces of an existing staircase with a suitable floor covering and matching edge details. It may be useful when you want the stairs to connect visually with new flooring on the landing or in nearby rooms. The work is about the finish of the existing stairs, rather than changing their structure.
Each staircase needs an individual look. I check the treads, risers, landings and existing covering, then consider the finished heights, edge profiles and how the selected material can be securely fitted. The front edge, or nosing, is an important part of the detail and must be suitable for the chosen system and the way the stairs are used.
Not every floorboard or decorative trim is suitable for stair use. Product guidance, surface grip and the consistency of the finished steps need consideration. If the stairs have structural movement or damage, that issue needs appropriate assessment before a new covering is fitted.
Photos of the full staircase, a close view of the edges and the number of steps are helpful. We can discuss the appearance you want, suitable materials and the finishing scope, including the connection to the landing.
