Herringbone Flooring Installation
Herringbone is a flooring layout in which rectangular boards meet end-to-side to form a repeating, staggered zigzag. It is a way to make the floor a visible part of a room's design, whether you are updating an entrance, living space or connected rooms. The look can be created with suitable timber or manufactured flooring products designed for that pattern.
The work starts with the layout, not simply the first board. I look at the room's proportions, doorways and adjoining areas, then discuss the direction of the pattern and how it will finish at the walls. The subfloor and the product's fixing or locking requirements are checked before installation is planned.
A herringbone layout needs the right boards and a considered allowance for cuts. Ordinary straight-plank products cannot automatically be used for it, and different systems have their own handed boards, joints and movement requirements. Borders, thresholds and any changes between rooms should be agreed before materials are ordered.
If you have an inspiration photo, send it along with your room dimensions or floor plan. We can compare the pattern, board size and finishing details, then work out a suitable scope for your space.
