Timber Floor Coating and Recoating
A floor coating is the protective finish on a timber surface. New coating may follow a suitable sanding job, while recoating can sometimes refresh an existing finish before wear reaches the timber. This service is for people considering a change in sheen, attention to worn areas or renewal of a surface that has become dull with use.
I first check the timber, the existing finish and the condition of the surface. We discuss whether cleaning and preparation followed by a compatible recoat is appropriate, or whether a fuller sanding and refinishing process is needed. Previous waxes, polishes and maintenance products are relevant because they can affect how a new finish bonds.
The coating system and sheen are selected for the floor and how the room is used. Compatibility testing may be needed, and application and drying arrangements follow the chosen product. A new coat does not repair loose boards, remove deep damage or make timber immune to scratches and dents.
Tell me what you would like to improve and, if possible, which finish or cleaning products have been used before. We can discuss a suitable treatment and plan room access, furniture arrangements and the return to normal use.
